This website contains a database which is a definitive source of information about recipients of Rhodesian military and civilian awards and allows researchers, genealogists, collectors and dealers alike to interrogate the database. The database’s primary goal is to capture information for future generations to use and to ensure that this information is not lost in the midst of time. The website is operating on a non-profit basis, with any income generated being re-invested directly into the website’s functionality and obtaining further information sources.
In addition to the various awards, the database contains useful information for researchers such as date of birth, attestation and death, as well as the location that these events took place; furthermore, the database also contains retirement notices and obituaries. The information has been gathered since 1998 and has been obtained from many sources, some official, some non-official and it is hoped that all ex-Rhodesians, collectors and other interested people would contribute to the website. I’m not aware of the existence of a medal roll for the Rhodesian General Service Medal (RhGSM) and thus would encourage all ex-servicemen who received the RhGSM to contribute the details of their medals, thus ensuring they are remembered as Rhodesian heroes.
